We spent the summer building our fishing poles, and reels – which were a bit trickier, but got it together (just) in time to head out to the local hot-spot of fishing … Los Vaqueros reservoir. We used the meet-up time in the morning to spool up reels with fishing line and learn a couple of fisherman’s knots as we tied on our swivels. It was a gorgeous, clear morning with a hot forecast coming our way, so we got to the marina as early as we could for the scheduled ½ day trip. I was pleased with how well…
Boy Scout Troop 708 of Castro Valley took on the removal of Campaign Signs after the November 2010 elections. It was a great fundraiser supported by past Scoutmaster Mellon.
The Community Leadership Reception is a yearly event held by the Tres Ranchos District of the Boy Scouts of America San Francisco Bay Area Council. The main purpose is twofold, to raise funds for the Council and District and to honor a leader with the “Good Scout Award”. This year Gordon Galvan was honored with the “Good Scout Award”. California Treasurer, Bill Lockyer, was the keynote speaker and our Troop’s very own Harrison Lambert also was asked to share his thought on Scouting.
Saturday, July 11, 2009, Castro Valley welcomed home United States Air Force Sergeant Sean Pellaton. Sgt. Pellaton returns home from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan where he served his country as a member of a medical evacuation helicopter crew, rescuing injured soldiers and civilians and also performing search and rescue missions.
